The Epiphone Les Paul Special II makes a great choice for both beginners, who can get started on a real LP tone guitar, and advanced players, who get the chance to carry this workhorse guitar around and leave their expensive axes at home. I’d say it’s really worth the money it’s offered at.
This guitar stays fairly in tune and features a solid construction, awesome looks and signature Les Paul sustain & tone. You also get that great classic sound from open-coil Alnico V Humbucker pickups, and the 14-degree headstock gives you more pressure at the nut which gets you more sustain and less tuning hang-ups.

What about its looks? Even though this model is also available in other colors (white, ebony, heritage cherry sunburst and wine red), the amazing vintage sunburst finishing gives this one a plus in my opinion. The guitar’s neck is made out of mahogany, and the body out of basswood. Although the latter may not be the most popular of woods, it’s still a perfectly fine wood for musical instruments.
You get Les Paul features in an economical package, what makes this guitar a top selling model. All in all, and considering its price, this is a great feeling, great looking and good sounding guitar. If you’re on a budget this guitar will surely match your demands, but even if you’re not it’s still a very good instrument.

The pickups, tune-o-matic bridge and stop piece are the same ones used in Epiphone’s more expensive guitars, and are similar to what’s used in much more expensive Gibsons. Although the tone adjustments have been simplified to a toggle between the three pickup combinations and an overall tone control for both pickups, this is not as big a deal as many might make of it. Given the vast array of other things that influence electric guitar sound — strings, amp choice and settings, effects pedals and so forth — the guitar sounds great as is.”
